Barangay Sta. Filomena
Barangay Sta. Filomena in one of the 9 barangays of Alegria. This barangay is located in the coastal area of Alegria and has total land area of 1,234 hectares which is composed of 9 sitios namely: Cotcoton, Bulokbulok, Bulacao, Tapon, Kabulihan, Tongo, Kinyanga, Kambunoc and Polo. The name of the barangay was derived from an old local named Gabiana Carreon who devotes Patron Sta. Filomena in the year 1800 A.D. The main attraction of this barangay is the marine sanctuary which was located beside the barangay hall. This marine sanctuary is being strictly monitored by the fish wardens where they prohibit fishermen from fishing within the boundary of the marine sanctuary. Various of fishes can be seen within this marine sanctuary. Futhermore, the barangay fiesta is celebrated every 2nd Friday and Saturday of the Month of August. The main livelihood of the locals in this barangay are fishing and farming.
